Every great idea starts with a simple observation: something isn’t working the way it should.
For The Koetter Group, that moment came while inspecting traditional wood-frame rickhouses — the ones that had held bourbon barrels for decades but were now showing their age. Sagging floors. Fire risks. Costly insurance headaches. Everyone in the industry saw the problem, but no one was fixing it.
So, The Koetter Group decided to.
K-RAX® was born from the realization that the bourbon industry needed more than another builder — it needed a system. A way to store barrels that honored Kentucky tradition while meeting modern engineering standards.
Instead of working around outdated methods, our team started from zero. We engineered a structural system purpose-built for bourbon storage. Steel frames replaced timber, precision replaced guesswork, and safety became the first design principle; not the last.
Launching K-RAX® wasn’t about adding another service line. It was about protecting the legacy of bourbon itself.
From that moment on, K-RAX® became the backbone for a new era of rickhouse construction. Built by people who understand both bourbon and building, it set the standard for how the industry would evolve.
